This painting shows a man engaging with Kenneth Noland’s monumental 1964 Chevron canvas, Bridge. This composition plays with scale and environment, juxtaposing the bold, vibrant geometry of Color Field abstraction against the quiet, observational realism of the figure.
For me, the title Bridge takes on a literal visual meaning through a hidden detail. Noland used yellow and blue across his piece. If you mix those colors you get green, the color of the shirt of my viewer. His presence acts as a physical and symbolic bridge—linking the human world directly to the canvas on the wall or, in art terms, linking realism to abstract painting.
