This 40 x 21 cm work depicts a viewer fully immersed in the joyful vibrant, machine-age geometry of Fernand Léger's Composition Murale (1926).
My focus was to paint the sharp contrast between those flat, hard-edged graphic lines and the soft, organic posture of a real person just standing there taking it all in. Léger wanted his giant paintings to bring dynamic energy straight into room, and I wanted to capture the quiet moment when that bold energy meets a single, solitary viewer.
