'Elegy' depicts a man entirely absorbed in a masterpiece from Robert Motherwell's Elegy to the Spanish Republic series. Consisting of over 150 paintings, this iconic series serves as an elegy—a solemn, abstract lament for the human suffering of the Spanish Civil War (1936 -1939).
Motherwell’s monumental compositions are celebrated for their stark visual rhythm.
